New model BMW 8 Series will be a luxury coupe that will compete with Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe.
It is reported by Auto Express. According to the publication, BMW has already registered several trademarks, including 825, 830, 835.845, 850 and 860. The portal also notes that the concern management made this step not only to warn against competitors, but all indices are assigned to real models.
Moreover, the Germans have applied for the M8 name. And that could mean the emergence of a brand new serial supercar in the line. Its main rival will be Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupe.
There’s no information about the timing of the start of production of the new “eight series” yet. The original two-doors BMW 8 Series released in the late 80’s – early 90-ies of the last century.
Earlier BMW officially announced the upcoming market entry of several new products. It is expected that the first of them will be the flagship SUV BMW X7. Premium SUV will debut in 2018. Then the brand will appear a luxury model that tries to lure customers away from Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. According to rumors, this new creation will receive BMW 9 Series name. Finally, in 2021, the brand will introduce a new electric vehicle – it has to press the Tesla Model S.
By the way, this year BMW is celebrating its centenary. Moreover, the company not only accepts congratulations, but itself makes gifts to clients in the form of limited versions of existing models. For example, recently BMW declassified M6 Coupe Celebration Edition.Tags: BMW, BMW 8 Series, BMW 8 series design, BMW 8 Series exterior, BMW 8 Series interior, BMW Concept, New BMW Concept
